Since I seem to be getting quite a lot of hits for this, here’s where you can get paysite custom content for free (including peggy, rose, thesimsresource aka TSR, etc):
- Paysites Must Be Destroyed – the original Booty, but not updated as often as it used to be
- SunsetSims – updates more frequently than PMBD
- Magisch’s Shoutbox – make requests for pay content
- Baixe Sims – Brazilian site. Pay content.
- SimsCave – note they do not share TSR files (too much dramaz)
- Anti-TSR – TSR subscriber content shared for free.
- Coconut’s Hut – no CC here, but plenty of info on TSR’s dirty dealings. If your fave sharing/fansite gets hacked/taken down, Coco will have the latest info.
Just to clarify – filesharing, good:
“In exchange for the use of the software, and to the extent that your contributions through the use of the software give rise to any copyright interest, you hereby grant EA an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, fully transferable and sub-licensable worldwide right and licence to use your contributions in any way and for any purpose in connection with the software and related good and services including the rights to reproduce, copy, adapt, modify, perform, display, publish, broadcast, transmit, or otherwise communicate to the public by any means whether now known or unknown and distribute your contributions without any further notice or compensation to you of any kind for the whole duration of protection granted to intellectual property rights by applicable laws and international conventions. You hereby waive any moral rights of paternity, publication, reputation, or attribution with respect to EA’s and other players’ use and enjoyment of such assets in connection with the software and related goods and services under applicable law. The licence grant to EA, and the above waiver of any applicable moral rights, survives any termination of the licence.”
A concerned mother recently posted on Coconut’s shoutbox about her worries over her daughter’s IM communication with Thoma$ at TSR.
Disclaimer: I will make it clear that there is no evidence that the conversations between Thoma$ and Louise’s daughter were sexual or inappropriate in any way. Regardless, it was enough for Louise to be worried about what was going on.
What happened after confirmed what we always knew anyway: that T$R do indeed have ties with EA. And now we have a name for another one of these ties: Sherrie Dandan (the other two being the Maxoids Drea and Hydra — and probably many others).

Ah, I figured as much that it had to come from our favorite sites lol! Ugh, how childish of them. I’m very sorry you and your site are going through this mess again.
Thanks so much for the explanation. We’ve only heard 2 people yammer over it to us (one on our tumblr page and one via email..to our PR). It might have been from the same person, who knows. And our PR who received it wasn’t sure how to handle it and forwarded it to us.
Didn’t mean to cause you any alarm (if any!).
Fan events seem to be very rare and far between. There haven’t been any fan events planned as of yet that I’ve heard of. If there are any, of course I’d let you know!
So how’s life been for you? I just remembered – you still have that awesome gift that keeps on giving! I still wonder how it got through customs without the agents giggling. I remember at one point we had to read through some harassment policies and we wondered if that counted as harassment. Guess we can’t hide that thing around each other’s desks anymore lol! Well, at least to be safe hehe.
Anyhoo, thanks again. I’ll let PR know that it’s just our favorite pirating site causing trouble again.

It’s always good to hear from you, even if it is under awkward circumstances 🙂
Yea, we are aware of this. It all stems from the Coconut Blog that is hosted by Pescado, who also hosts the sites that try to destroy so called “Illegal Pay Sites”. If you read the blog there, any half intelligent person will see very quickly that it’s made up of lies and exaggerations with the sole purpose of destroying The Sims Resource. They have been around for years and every now she finds the energy to make up some more lies (she is actually a bitter artist that begged us to make her Featured Artist but was rejected because she wasn’t good enough, and took a vow to cause as much trouble for us as she could). Most of it in the form of edited screenshots that shallow people take to be absolute proof, while technically adept people can see the edits quite clearly with a pixel zoom.
Anyway, the latest allegations are that TSR is actively hacking into other Sims sites, their flickr and social networking sites, and doing all kind of bad things there. Of course its rubbish, we have neither the inclination nor technical skills/knowledge to hack websites and major commercial networks. In any case, people have even come forward and pointed out that the hacking was actually done by someone they know and not TSR, but they gloss over that rather quickly. It’s not good for their story.
They openly accused us of hacking Mod The Sims in a bid to close the site down. Delphy, the owner, publicly stated that he knows TSR was no part of it after he investigated it. Coconut said “well I don’t care, I still think it was TSR so our accusation stands”. It’s all rubbish.
Ironically, it has been bought to our attention recently that Coconut’s followers have been Private Messaging our members in our forums and your own, claiming to be TSR staff trying to resolve technical issues, and asking for their login details for our site. That’s why we posted a news statement a couple of days ago telling our users that we would never need to ask for their passwords and not to give them out.
I think if you read this complaint you have been forwarded you will see the ‘way over the top’ way they desperately try to get the attention of EA, who they so want on board to shut TSR down. “FBI… Internet fraud… Punished for crimes… Harassment and Slander…” We’re a Sims fansite for goodness sake, all we do is sell subscriptions for access to our premium content, which just happens to be the best and largest collection of Custom Content for the Sims games, made in the Sims 3 case by all our own software engineered in house but made freely available for any Sims fansite out there to use at will (Workshop). Does that sound like the same website this user is describing? What proof can they offer that we have been involved in any so called hackings? There won’t be any. We are grown men with jobs (as you know, I work for the Government in Criminal Justice), we aren’t about to getting up to this nonsense.
So there. Anyway, on to more pressing matters…. When is Sims 4 being released, and when’s the next event???
Love to the team,
I am so disgusted I can’t even think of anything to say to this right now.
You can read the full article at Coconut’s Hut.
Best laugh I’ve had since I read T$R’s April Fools message -> thesimsresource.com/articles/myths
The depths Thoma$ will sink to… Buggybooz @ MTS2, who PS is one of my fave CC artists, recently had her stuff ripped off by Shakeshaft, one of T$R’s Featured Arti$ts. Obviously, Buggy was very upset and threw up a fuss.
Then Buggy’s MTS2 account got hacked, and her stuff all pulled. Her policy was changed to ‘do whatever you like with my content’. Coincidence? I think not. An IP check reveals a match with Thoma$$…
From MTS2’s Delphy:
I think it’s clear here one of the following things happened:
– Either Thomas himself removed Buggy’s stuff, or
– Thomas gave the password to his account to somebody else at TSR and they removed it
In addition to the above, they must have gotten buggy’s password from somewhere, which indicates one of two things:

You remember Neptune ‘Why Not Make All FA Content Subscriber-only’ Suzy?
Here is an interesting bit of gossip from Calalily at PMBD
She was canned by TSR as an FA, and to save face begged Thomass to be allowed to stay on as FA for free. Thomass being the cheap b*****d he is, agreed (all for Silus, all for Silus). So Neptune Suzy’s downloads are pay, but she doesn’t get a single cent for them – serves her bloody right.
A few by PMBD members:
Hold it! Dere r moar macros! View the rest here!
I am stepping down from the Torrent Queen role and whoever wants it can have it. My original aim in torrenting paysite content was
– to annoy T$R
– help spread the message that Paysites Must Be Destroyed,
and I feel I’ve succeeded in both.
Please don’t request any new torrents – a refusal often offends. You may ask me to seed my existing torrents if they’re slow or dead, but that’s all. If I’m bored I might put Simal and BlackGarden’s stuff on the torrents, but right now I am up to my ears in other projects, so don’t hold your breath.
For the T$R sheep
Atwa is also known as:
Constipation of the brain… and, er, diarrhoea of the mouth
(Apologies to Paden for nicking her line)
What super happy fun goodness in the TSR paysites ‘debate’ thread. This is the old thread where (in my sheepy days) T$R deleted my post because I C+P’d the EULA (or maybe it was the message from EA, I can’t remember). Anyhoo, the thread’s been resurrected of late, and is worth taking a look at.
This made me smile. This is the first time I have seen an FA-promoted artist NOT get bumlicked! Brilliant! Click to view full size.
T$R’s very own Thoma$$.
Thomas roxar till Alive i dah repa!
I couldn’t last longer than 2 seconds before my ears started bleeding. How about you?
Awww! Poor Atwa has had to retire from T$R because of “actions and happenings out my control that has also made me ill”. Awww!! Poor thing!!!
And it has nothing whatsoever to do with certain complaints about her behaviour from T$R’s own FAs? Of course not!
Warning!! Contains a bad word!!
I just came across this thread on PMBD and something has happened which I thought impossible: my opinion of Thoma$$ has got even lower. This is by Aikea Guinea, explaining why she left FA at TSR (and also solves the mystery of why she and Gelydh didn’t get listed on the retired artists page, which I was wondering about before)
I wanted tell you ‘my story’ and explain why I left TSR. This is in by no means a cry for attention, I’m just tired of staying silent to ‘protect’ someone else. I’ll skip a long and stupid intro and just jump right into the long and stupid story.

Something strikes me as strange here. It’s been some time since Aikea Guinea and Gelydh retired from FA status, yet their names have not been added to T$R’s retired artists page (thesimsresource.com/artists/retired/). Two more recent departures (so recent that, at the time of writing, their content still hasn’t been free released) Confide and Tantra, are already listed on the retired artists page. So I wonder why Aikea and Gelydh aren’t? Weird. T$R’s choice, or Aikea and Gelydh’s?
… the torrents will stay up until T$R free-releases their work, but isn’t it strange, they’ve both decided to call it a day at the same time…
Sorry about the blurry pics, this danged theme is so frickin’ narrow. Now could they… could they really be one and the same person?!
Or perhaps they’re going to set up a free site together elsewhere… One can only hope…
Edit: It seems they are! From PMBD:
Fixed meshes from Aikea and Geyldh – hosting at their request while they get all of their content on their new site. Find these items under TSR/z-retiredartists/aikea/fixed_meshes_from_aikea and TSR/z-retiredartists/geyldh/fixed_meshes_from_geyldh.
Nice though, more departures from TSR – I bet Thoma$$ is weeping into his hanky. I’ve already removed two torrents, Juttaponath and Cloisonne, because they have both gone free! Gelydh and Aikea will make two more.
Ha ha!! Ms Barrows has returned to FA status at TSR. This means her stuff will (eventually) end up in the booty. This is good news for me! I was contemplating re-registering to get my mitts on her stuff, but it looks like I won’t have to any more
Also, I took a quick peek at the price increase thread (www.thesimsresource.com/news.php?ID=2710). Oh what a little gem!
I couldn’t resist the cheap jibe, sorry. But really! These sheep continue to astound me with their sheepiness every day. What a real treasure! Good to know that some still have more than one brain cell to rub together though
A lil something from PMBD. Check it out!
Members (and ex-members!) of T$R will be familiar with the kudos system they use on that site. Basically, it’s just a points system which allows you to buy various ‘upgrades’ (I use that term oh-so-loosely) and other site goodies (and I also use that term loosely). You can earn your K points by submitting creations, commenting on others’ work, and taking out a paid subscription. Anyway, one of the above-mentioned goodies is a monthly lottery, which costs, I think, 500 kudos points, and gives you the chance to win an expansion pack. Of course, this is very tempting to cash-strapped kiddies, but how many of these cash-strapped kiddies ever win?
Here is a little story written by Zayury, from The Anti-T$R Blog.
The site seems to have been taken down 😦 I don’t know if this is because Zayury pulled it (why!?!) or if T$R had a hand in it. In any case, the winners were chosen by Atwa anyway.
Okay, so I was planning on having Lana’s story wrapped up by now, but as you can see, February is nearly over and I still haven’t taken any more pics, so it looks like it’s been postponed once again. And don’t even ASK me to start on part 7 of Jasmine’s story, cos it ain’t gonna happen!
At least not for a very long time.
So the latest update is that there will be no update. You know what? I’ve actually started playing Sims 2 again, as opposed to just using it as a screenshot tool. But it’s started to get a little bit repetitive, again.
FreeTime still hasn’t been released here, not that I give a damn since I have no desire to purchase anything with that Suck-u-ROM on it, but here is something funny for you to look at, a screenshot of the Freetime BodyShop, by Calalily:
Yup, possibly the best screenshot of the lot. But will it stop paysites?
Will it hell!
The real theft
No doubt Thoma$$ et al @ TSR consider me to be a thief because I put their pay stuff up on the torrents. They call this violation of copyright and the artists’ TOS. But how about this?
I want you to take a look at these two pay items, one by Gelydh and one by Aikea Guinea, both Featured Artists at TSR at the time of writing. Both of these items are subscriber-only. Let’s start with Gelydh. Here is a skirt she made. Have a look at the tooltip in BodyShop and you’ll see it says © Gelydh at TSR.
Now look at these two Maxis items. Anything look familiar?
So what Gelydh’s done is simply rip Maxis meshes, tweak them a little, then paste Maxis’s textures onto that modified Maxis mesh. Nothing wrong with that, though, isn’t that why Maxis gave us BodyShop? Of course. But then Gelydh then has the nerve to assert copyright over and charge money for something that is not even her intellectual property! So how dare she or anyone at TSR attack those of us who fileshare pay content?
Let’s have a look at Aikea Guinea’s work next. Here is one of her jeans.
Very nice. Now let’s look at a pair of Maxis jeans. These came with Nightlife for adult males.
Wow! What a surprise! The jeans’ textures are exactly the same! Yet if you ask Thoma$$ who owns the copyright, I wonder what answer he’ll give..?
I’m sure you can find plenty more examples of pay artists stealing Maxis work, pasting on a big copyright sign and then charging you money for it. Now just ask yourself, who are the real thieves?

Link: Why Not Pay?
Leilatigress actually sat down with three members of the EA Legal team on August 27, 2007. This is available at PMBD but for those that don’t want to go look over there, it is posted here too. I asked her to cover a few topics, and here are the replies:
Q. EULA changes: TSR’s making a big deal over the removal of the word ‘noncommerical’ in the EULA for the content manager; is this a permanent change for all EPs/Bodyshop/Homecrafter?
A. It is a permanent change for Bodyshop and Homecrafter it is not going to be in any EPs. Turned right back around and said the EULA for Bon Voyage would match Seasons.
Q. Filesharing: It’s been suggested that the only problem EA has with PMBD is that we have adult content (Pandora/M&M/etc), and therefore they don’t want our link on the Exchange. However, there’s also a rumor that EA will stop PMBD/SFV filesharing altogether – in essence saying that paysites DO own their content. What’s the real story?
A. EA has nothing against filesharing since they have the exchange which promotes filesharing. They ignored the rest of that question.
Q. The various statements from tech suport/customer support/EA legal – obviously, there’s conflict. Some of it’s Maxoid issues, some of it’s ancient ties to TSR back when they were free. So what’s the story? WHO has final say?
A. Unless it’s signed by an EA Legal team member they have no say and are not held to be responsible for anything or anyone, EA Legal says.
Q. Obviously, the big thing we want is ANY clear statement – paysites good, paysites bad, filesharing good, filesharing bad, or ‘we don’t give a rat’s ass what happens in the fan community”.
A. Filesharing good, paysites bad was the statement I got and that is verbatim.
PS. EA is a joke
WARNING! The following avatars may cause suicidal or homicidal thoughts!!
I’m not even joking. Is this T$R’s idea of being funny?
They both just come across as a pair of twits!!!! 😄
Check out Leah’s corner to get your revenge!
It’s only now that I’ve left TSR that I realise just how many disadvantages there are to submitting your work to that site. Now obviously with the custom content, you have no control of it once it get published: you can’t edit or delete your creations at all without first clearing it with a moderator (every other community site I know of allows submitters to modify and update their creations at any time). This means that if you find a problem with something you uploaded, rather than just reuploading the file/screenshot, you have to sort it all out with a mod first, and even then you have no guarantee that you’ll be allowed. And of course, they never ever allow you to remove your uploads. In other words, they are quite happy to keep your files on their servers without your permission, but if you share their pay files without their permission, you’re evil and deserve a ban. Hypocrites.
As well, the free artists upload their work because they want to share, TSR wants the free artists to upload so they can lure more visitors, and therefore have more potential subscribers. In other words, TSR are exploiting you for profit, nothing more.
Hosting my files elsewhere means I now get total control of my custom content, but I think the biggest advantage of having an independent site is that I also get complete control over my stories. One thing that peed me off a lot about TSR’s story-hosting was just how hard it is for an author to continue to perfect their work after it was published. When I edited and reuploaded part 1 of Jasmine’s story, after waiting over a week for the story to be approved (they never took more than 2 days ordinarily) I thought something must have gone wrong, so I reuploaded again, only for all my feedback to get deleted and to have to then re-upload once more for it to work. Idiotic load of rubbish! So you have to go through all that hassle just to make a few minor changes to a story. It makes me wonder how I ever stood for it! Now that I’m in complete control of my stories, I am free to modify screenshots when I want, I can add and delete scenes any time and make those all-important typo corrections and minor tweaks…whenever I like. Something you will never get with TSR.
(Fanseelamb put it much better than I did.)
