TSR sinks to an all-time low…
The depths Thoma$ will sink to… Buggybooz @ MTS2, who PS is one of my fave CC artists, recently had her stuff ripped off by Shakeshaft, one of T$R’s Featured Artists. Obviously, Buggy was rightly well peed off and threw up a fuss.
Then Buggy’s MTS2 account got hacked, and her stuff all pulled. Her policy was changed to ‘do whatever you like with my content’. Coincidence? I think not. An IP check reveals a match with Thoma$$…

I think it’s clear here one of the following things happened:
- Either Thomas himself removed Buggy’s stuff, or
- Thomas gave the password to his account to somebody else at TSR and they removed itIn addition to the above, they must have gotten buggy’s password from somewhere, which indicates one of two things:
- Either the TSR admins have a way of unencrypting passwords of members, or
- The passwords are not stored encrypted.Either way, the blatant violation of buggy’s personal details is clear – and either a TSR admin used them (a clear violation of privacy) or gave them to somebody else (which is an even bigger issue).
“But wait!” I hear TSR say. “We didn’t do this, you can’t prove it.” Sorry, but the account clearly belongs to a TSR representative, and clearly has not been used until such time as buggy reported the bad TSR content. The timing and the individuals involved, combined with the proof of IPs and browser info, are too blatant to ignore. I expect the “We didn’t do it, please remove the false accusation” PMs and mails to arrive any day now.
I really don’t know what TSR expected to achieve here. Nothing was lost, everything is back the way it was, and really the only things that got hurt is their own reputation becuase even if they gave the password to somebody else, did they expect nobody to find out? Did they expect buggy – or the community – to take this at face value?
It’s clear to me that TSR either sanctions underhanded tactics, or uses such tactics internally. The best thing to do when getting reports of stolen items is to actually investigate such reports and deal with them, not to go to another site, use blatently private information such as passwords to login, and then delete stuff – which as you can see, didn’t work anyway.
The lesson to be learned here is:
1. Don’t use the same password on TSR as you use ANYWHERE else.
2. TSR can and will share any of your personal details, INCLUDING password, and use it however they want.
3. If you ever report anything to them about one of their FAs, they will take “action” against you.All this just goes to show how EAs new best friend really treats the community and what it thinks of private user details.

Here is an interesting bit of gossip from Calalily at PMBD
She was canned by TSR as an FA, and to save face begged Thomass to be allowed to stay on as FA for free. Thomass being the cheap b*****d he is, agreed (all for Silus, all for Silus). So Neptune Suzy’s downloads are pay, but she doesn’t get a single cent for them – serves her bloody right.

Someone from the-prism.com asked EA technical support about a problem with HomeCrafter Plus not working. HomeCrafter Plus was made by EA for The Sims 2. EA’s response as follows:

As to your concern, we do not support or advice the use of this program (Homecrafter Plus) since it’s considered as a game modifier. It may cause conflict(s) with the game itself.

The Torrent Queen is Abdicating
I am stepping down from the Torrent Queen role and whoever wants it can have it. My original aim in torrenting paysite content was
- to annoy T$R
and
- help spread the message that Paysites Must Be Destroyed,
and I feel I’ve succeeded in both.
Please don’t request any new torrents – a refusal often offends. You may ask me to seed my existing torrents if they’re slow or dead, but that’s all. If I’m bored I might put Simal and BlackGarden’s stuff on the torrents, but right now I am up to my ears in other projects, so don’t hold your breath.

ETA: It looks like it might not have been a game that was responsible after all. I’ve discovered that (my sister’s) Official DSA Theory Test (i.e. the driving theory test) CD has the Sony DADC thing on it too, but most of the stuff mentioned in the MATY thread (e.g. securom folder in your settings folder, the uaservice7.exe thing) weren’t present. So maybe it was a less aggressive form of Suck-u-ROM? Still Suck-u-ROM though. Cool, so now even government owned institutions are trying to take over our PCs.

Skintones and such
You might have noticed from my screenies, up till now I’ve only ever used Maxis tones (and recolours based on the Maxis skintones for my non-Earth sims). So I’ve decided to stop being so boring on that front (sorry, other kinds of boredom will persist). Some of Enayla‘s tones looked quite nice, so I thought I’d give them a go.
Woo! It’s taking some getting used to; it looks so weird compared to the rest of the sims in the neighbourhood! This one is the Opaline tone (I think?) and makes the Sim look a bit cadaverous

What super happy fun goodness in the TSR paysites ‘debate’ thread. This is the old thread where (in my sheepy days) T$R deleted my post because I C+P’d the EULA (or maybe it was the message from EA, I can’t remember). Anyhoo, the thread’s been resurrected of late, and is worth taking a look at.

If anyone actually gives a crap about Jasmine
To be honest, I don’t know when I’m going to finish her story, or if I ever even will. I know what happens to her so it makes no difference to me whether I do write it down or not. The only reason I have to write it is if there is anyone else who actually gives a damn how it ends.
Oh no, she’s kicking me to the kerb!
The thing is, I am feeling quite disillusioned with it. Chapter two is still not to my satisfaction and never will be – I can’t even be bothered to proof-read and try to improve it because it bores me so – and the whole story in general seems to me to have descended to the world of a third-rate American soap (wait – isn’t that all of them?).
And as well, Jasmine just doesn’t interest me any more. It was interesting to throw all these things at her and see how she’d react and what wry one-liners she’d come up with. I loved the way the things would just unfold as I wrote, like magic. But now, Jasmine just bores me. She doesn’t have wings for one thing, and she is always so bleedin’ miserable. What do you do with someone who suffers from a bout of depression every fecking year? I would much rather dream of wings.
