MOAR cartoons!
Oh my holy aunt, I can hardly believe I actually drew these myself. I’m getting better, yAy!!
I’ve made a few mistakes in there, and I couldn’t get Ash’s hands right so I just removed them from the picture. Easy way out, huh? Anyhoo, I can draw!!

Sorry, I’ve skipped the profile view lesson here, not because it came out that bad (effort 3 was a good resemblance), just that I’m fed up to the back teeth of all these scans! Let’s start with the real horror show, i.e. lesson 3, partially turned faces. This gave me a lot of grief, I can tell you! The guy on the top right is a tracing of the one I’m meant to be drawing. Yeah… I know.

ETA: It looks like it might not have been a game that was responsible after all. I’ve discovered that (my sister’s) Official DSA Theory Test (i.e. the driving theory test) CD has the Sony DADC thing on it too, but most of the stuff mentioned in the MATY thread (e.g. securom folder in your settings folder, the uaservice7.exe thing) weren’t present. So maybe it was a less aggressive form of Suck-u-ROM? Still Suck-u-ROM though. Cool, so now even government owned institutions are trying to take over our PCs.

Here’s the quick way to see if your game is infected. Look at the back of the CD. I’ve even provided a picture for you.
Somewhere where I’ve shown you, in little writing, you will see the words SONY DADC. This is sekrit code for: Ha ha, b*tches!! We’re installing SecuROM on your PC!!

It seems my Kid Icarus mania has abated a bit. At least I think it has. I won’t know for sure until I find a pic of Pit that I don’t already have and manage to not hyperventilate. But I think the worst of it’s over now, what a relief. I want a new Pit wallpaper for my desktop, I’ve had this one for a month, which is too long. Of course I had a few screenshots saved on the Wii – which my sister deleted most of – and I had just a couple of days ago figured out how to put the SD card in and decided that I was going to secretly borrow my mum’s SD card anyway, then my sis decided to pack her Wii up.
So that’s that then.
I don’t know why it is, I always have to have some kind of mania. Perhaps I’m suffering from something.
Apart from my sister’s deleting my Pit pictures and packing up the Wii.
I wonder what it’ll be next? It won’t be something new, because I haven’t anything new to be mad about, so it’ll probably be MCoG again, or maybe doll’s houses, or perhaps astronomy. Probably doll’s houses I think, it’s been about a year since the last time.
I would so utterly love to have a real doll’s house of my very own. The problem with doll’s houses is – they are very expensive. The other problem is – I don’t have much money. The third problem is – no one wants to employ me.
To be honest, I don’t blame them. I wouldn’t employ me either.
I have the Dolls House Emporium catalogue and it is exceptionordinarily interesting. I can look at it for hours and hours and not get bored. And I tick off all the things I would buy if I had a doll’s house even though I probably never will.
What I think is, if you can’t have a thing you really want, the next best thing is to dream about it. This only works with things you want in fact, or things you really want. Not with things you desperately want, because stopping dreaming makes it harder and anyway, it’s too sad. And what happens generally is, you dream about other things instead and eventually you forget slightly, and then after lots of time has gone past, you realise that maybe you don’t want that thing so badly after all.
It’s like what it says in
that it’s easier to add more things than to take things away, i.e. for example, buying more books is easier than selling your old books, especially if you are fond of reading, which I am. And it’s the same with thoughts, that if you are thinking sad thoughts, then you can think about happier things instead – for example, having wings – and they crowd out the bad thoughts and before you know it the bad thoughts have no space left and are gone, at least for a while. There was something like it in The Secret Garden as well – where you tend a rose, my lad, a thistle cannot grow – although I’ve no qualms with thistles as a rule; goldfinches like them.
I am utterly not hyperventilating.
Portraits
Okay, I gave the lesson on portraits a try… *clears throat* Keep the eye bleach handy!
Hehe, what happened here? By the way, he said to do the eyes blocked in for now. It’s only getting proportions right, etc at the mo. Need a bit more practice, I think! The people I draw always end up looking like kids, and I’ve realised now I’ve been drawing the face shape too round. The two guys on the right are in fact meant to be the same person. The one on the bottom was after I realised the shape was too round. He still looks younger than the guy I was supposed to be drawing though. Hmm. The old dude didn’t come out too bad though, I did get quite a good resemblance to the example pic. Not perfect, but recognisable anyway.
I still like this one best!

Why Can Pit Fly?
People sometime ask, why can Kid Icarus fly in Captain N when he can’t in the game, and why is he called Kid Icarus and not Pit?
Remember Pit killed Medusa at the end of Kid Icarus, but in Captain N she is still alive and Kid turns her to stone?
So Captain N is obviously set before anything in the game happens. Even before he became Captain of Palutena’s Army. The reason he is only ever called by his nickname of Kid Icarus in Captain N is because, of course, Nintendo said that they can’t name-check his game if he wasn’t.
Okay, so he looks a bit different now but this is Videoland, right?
After the N-Team save Videoland from Mother Brain, Kid is sent to train in Pally’s Army and rises to the level of Captain (and loses the speech defecticus – awww).
Of course he is still a kid, because angels age much much slower than humans, being immortal and all that. Then he gets kidnapped by Medusa, who clips his wings (and perhaps even breaks a few bones) to stop his escaping and that’s why he can’t fly in Kid Icarus, and that’s why he can fly in Brawl, because of course, his primaries have grown back. In Of Myths and Monsters (the sequel to Angel Land Story), Pit’s wings have some functionality, which just goes to back up my theory, that his flight feathers were still growing back and his wings still healing at that time.
You see, it’s so simple.

Okay, I totally made this up, but it’s the only explanation that makes sense to me. I mean, he lives in Skyworld, he’d need to be able to fly. Stands to reason, doesn’t it? Why have wings if you can’t fly? I’m going with this theory for my Skyworld Story anyway. I like my stories to make sense.

I was watching Videolympics the other day. They are SO mean to Kid Icarus in that. Dr Wiley called him Kid Idiot and Simon Belmont called him Shrimpicus, so Kid called Simon Dopius Maximus, which is an exceptionordinarily cool insult.

This is actually from Invasion of the Paper Pedlars. That’s the episode I remember watching as a kid and the one that helped me track down Captain N in the first place. Mother Brain is my master!!!! Kid has been hypnotised in this one. He’s going for Kevinicus.

I felt like crying when I first saw the Factor 5 concept art for the new Kid Icarus game. What are they trying to do to you, Pit?!!?? I still feel like crying now when I think of it. The Brawl Pit is absolutely perfect, exactly how you’d expect him to look in 3D. And now these morons want to ruin him and rob him of his innocence, his identity, everything that makes him Kid Icarus. I am not going to post the concept art here because it is too fugly and profane, but there’s a link to it in one of my earlier posts, or just do a search.

But his final smash is mega coooooool! Who’s the gal at the back? It’s Palutena, who he had to save not once, but twice! He should change his victory line to Not-so-great Palutena! Victory is ours!
